Privacy Policy
Effective date: June, 27, 2026
Last updated: June, 27, 2026
Word Not World (“Word Not World,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a faith app that lets people read Scripture together in real time, pray with one another, and walk healing pathways in community. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to this Policy.
The app is operated by WORD NOT WORLD LLC, BANNING, CA/USA. You can reach us any time at wordnotworldapp@gmail.com.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
– Account details: your name, email address, phone number, and (optionally) a profile photo.
– Verification data: a one-time code sent to your phone by SMS, and a device identifier we use to enforce one account per device and reduce fake accounts.
– Content you create: Scripture highlights and notes, prayer requests, intercession posts, circle messages, worship shares, partner connections, reading and devotional and pathway progress, and reactions.
– Private journal entries: your journal is private to you. We store it so it syncs to your account, but we do not display it to other users.
– Settings: your text size, language, default Bible translation, notification preferences, and membership tier.
Information we collect automatically
– Usage and device data: app interactions, feature usage, app version, device type and operating system, and basic diagnostics, used to keep the app working and improve it.
– Approximate location: only if you use the Resources feature (to show nearby churches, food, shelter, counseling, etc.). You can decline location access and still use the rest of the app.
Information from sign-in providers
– If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email from that provider to create your account. We do not receive your password.
We do not intentionally collect payment card numbers ourselves. If paid memberships are added later, payments are handled by the app store or a third-party processor.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
– Create and secure your account, and verify you are a real person (phone and email).
– Enforce one account per device and prevent fake or abusive accounts.
– Provide the core features: live reading, circles, prayer wall, intercession, healing pathways, devotionals, worship, journal, and resources.
– Power real-time features, for example showing other members of your circle that you are present (“3 reading now”) and sharing highlights and notes you choose to share.
– Run content moderation (see Section 4) to keep the community safe and gracious.
– Send you notifications you have enabled (daily verse, prayer reminders, partner nudges).
– Respond to your messages and support requests.
– Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the app.
– Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. What other people can see
Word Not World is a community app, so some information is visible to others by design:
– Your name, profile photo, and verified badge are visible to people in your circles and to those you connect with.
– Content you choose to share (shared highlights, circle messages, prayer requests, intercession posts, worship shares) is visible to the relevant circle or community.
– Presence (“currently reading”) is shown to members of the same circle on the same chapter.
Your private journal entries are never shown to other users. Prayer-wall reactions are emoji only. There are no public text replies, by design, to keep the space free of comment-section cruelty.
4. Moderation and safety
To keep the community safe, text you post in public or community areas (circle messages, prayer requests, intercession posts) is screened before it is saved:
1. against a profanity and slur blocklist, and
2. with an AI moderation service (such as a third-party moderation API).
If content is flagged, it is blocked and you are asked to reword it. We also operate a reporting and strikes system: members can report content for human review, and repeated verified violations can lead to suspension or a ban, as described in our Terms of Service. Your private journal is exempt from this screening because it is not shared.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
– With service providers who help us run the app, under contract and only as needed, for example: cloud hosting and backend, SMS verification, push notifications, a public-domain Bible text provider, the moderation service, and (for Worship) the official YouTube player.
– With other users, as described in Section 3, based on what you choose to share.
– For legal reasons, to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect the safety of our community, or enforce our Terms.
– In a business transfer, if the app is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.
6. Sensitive content
Word Not World involves faith and emotional-healing topics (for example grief, anxiety, trauma, and marriage). Information you share about these can be considered sensitive. We handle it with care, limit who can see it to the people you choose, and never use it to target advertising. Please share only what you are comfortable sharing in community.
7. Data retention and account deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the app. You can delete your account at any time from Profile, Settings, Delete Account. When you delete your account, we permanently erase your personal data within 30 days, except limited records we must keep for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons (and content already shared in a circle may persist in others’ views unless removed). Backups are purged on a rolling schedule.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can:
– Edit your profile and settings in the app.
– Control notifications and location permission on your device.
– Delete your account (Section 7).
– Contact us at wordnotworldapp@gmail.com to exercise any right.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
9. Children’s privacy
Word Not World is intended for users 13 and older (or the minimum age required in your country, whichever is higher). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, and verified accounts, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International users
We may process and store information in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. By using the app, you understand your information may be transferred to countries with different data-protection laws than your own.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised Policy.

Terms of Service
Effective date: June, 27, 2026
Last updated: June, 27, 2026
Welcome to Word Not World. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and WORD NOT WORLD LLC (“Word Not World,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Who can use Word Not World
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country, whichever is higher) to use the app. By using it, you confirm you meet this requirement and that the information you give us is accurate.
2. Your account
– You sign in with Apple or Google and verify your phone number. Keep your account secure. You are responsible for activity under it.
– One account per device. To protect the community from fake and duplicate accounts, we limit each device to one account.
– You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it current. We may suspend or remove accounts that are fake, duplicated, or used to evade enforcement.
3. Our community covenant
Word Not World exists to bring people closer to God and to a few real people, gently and without cruelty. By participating, you agree to:
– Treat others with grace, kindness, and respect.
– Not post hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, or violent content; slurs; spam; scams; or content that impersonates others or violates someone’s privacy.
– Not use the app to deceive, exploit, or harm anyone, or to break the law.
– Respect the purpose of each space (circles, prayer wall, intercession, healing pathways).
Prayer-wall responses are limited to reactions (no public text replies) by design, to keep that space free of comment-section cruelty.
4. Content moderation and enforcement
To keep the community safe, text posted in community areas is screened before it is saved against a blocklist and an AI moderation service. Flagged content is blocked and you will be asked to reword it.
We operate a report and strikes system:
– Members can report content. Reports are reviewed by a human before any strike counts (this prevents pile-ons).
– Slurs or hate speech result in an immediate suspension and likely permanent ban on review.
– 3 verified strikes within 90 days result in a 7-day suspension. A 4th results in a permanent ban.
– We may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without notice where necessary to protect the community.
Decisions about content and accounts are at our reasonable discretion in keeping with this covenant.
5. Circles and admins
Circles are admin-owned. The person who creates a circle is its admin and may approve or deny join requests, remove members, set the passage, and set an end date. If you create or admin a circle, you agree to steward it responsibly and in line with these Terms.
6. Your content
– You own the content you create (your highlights, notes, prayers, messages, journal, etc.).
– By posting content in shared or community areas, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, display, and distribute that content within the app so the feature works (for example, showing your shared highlight to your circle). This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already shared with others or retained as required by law.
– Your private journal is yours and is not displayed to other users.
– You are responsible for the content you post and confirm you have the right to share it.
7. Scripture and third-party content
– Bible text in the app uses public-domain translations (such as KJV and the World English Bible) and/or properly licensed translations. Scripture is provided for personal and community devotional use.
– Worship content plays through the official YouTube player. Your use of it is also subject to YouTube’s terms.
– The app may link to or embed third-party services (maps, sign-in, etc.). We are not responsible for third-party content or practices.
8. Healing pathways are not professional advice
Word Not World offers faith-based healing pathways and devotionals on topics such as grief, anxiety, trauma, and marriage. This content is for spiritual encouragement and is not medical, psychological, or professional advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It is not a substitute for care from a qualified doctor, therapist, or counselor.
If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please seek immediate help. In the United States, call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline). Elsewhere, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line in your country.
9. Acceptable use and security
You agree not to: reverse-engineer or disrupt the app; access it by automated means or scrape data; circumvent moderation, verification, or the one-account-per-device rule; upload malware; or infringe anyone’s intellectual property or privacy.
10. Disclaimers
The app is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that content (including Scripture features and real-time presence) will always be accurate or available.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Word Not World and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, goodwill, or profits, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $50.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Word Not World and its operators from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the app, or your violation of these Terms or others’ rights.
13. Termination
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time (Profile, Settings, Delete Account). We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the community. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as content license for already-shared content, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of CALIFORNIA, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute will be resolved in the courts located in RIVERSIDE COUNTY/CA, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
